Biciulyste (Amity), Lithuania's only special weekly for disabled persons published in Lithuanian language, first came out in October of 1990 just months after the Independence restoration. The weekly was set up by and received funds for publishing from the Lithuanian Children's Fund, the Lithuanian Red Cross Society and the Society for the Physically Disabled of Lithuania. In 1992 the founder's rights were taken over by the Society for the Physically Disabled of Lithuania, which at this point is the largest non-governmental organisation for disabled persons in the country.
